About us
Florida Armored Combat (FAC) is dedicated to educating the public and promoting buhurt—a modern sport inspired by medieval tournament fighting, also known as Armored Combat. FAC supports both commercial and non-commercial initiatives by providing venues and logistical assistance for events that inform, entertain, and engage the Florida public in medieval combat and related disciplines, including arts, sciences, and traditional professions.
FAC offers educational resources on the history of medieval tournaments and their regional impact. We collaborate with metallurgists, chemists, engineers, and blacksmiths to showcase how STEM principles apply to the design and maintenance of medieval weapons and armor.
Additionally, FAC promotes physical training in multiple combat techniques, including Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA), as well as complementary martial disciplines, offering instruction to all who wish to learn.
FAC partners with organizations to deliver accessible armored combat events and learning opportunities to the public. Our prime strategic partner, Castle Tournaments, has been instrumental in both our early and continued growth.
Finally, FAC supports the formation and development of new teams that actively participate in events or logistics. Membership is open and free—no financial contribution is required to join.
